Sydney’s Italian Fruitshops

This Co.As.It. exhibition and shops database was supported by the NSW Migration Heritage Centre and researched in collaboration with the Australian Centre for Public History at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Dr Paul Ashton of the Australian Centre For Public History at the University completed over 40 oral history interviews, scanned 150 photographs and documented various movable heritage items.

The exhibition, co-curated with Linda Nellor of Co.As.It. celebrates the cultural and historic contribution made by Italian fruiterers to Sydney’s social history.

It opened at Sydney Customs House before opening at History Week at Leichhardt Library at the Italian Forum from 4 September until 29th November 2010. It then toured to Leeton and Griffith.

A book is proposed in 2011.
