Macedonian apron designs

This exhibition showcases a selection of Macedonian aprons, traditionally worn for special occasions and everyday use.

A powerful juxtaposition of colours, patterns, and materials, these hand-woven aprons tell the stories of women's lives and creativity, their villages and traditions.

For the women of the Illawarra their journey of migration to Australia transformed their aprons from an integral part of daily dress into a lasting memento of a former way of life.

Our thanks to the women and their families who have shared their aprons and their stories to make this exhibition possible.

Оваа изложба прикажува избор на македонски фути, кои се носеле традиционално за специјални прилики и за секојдневна употреба.

Моќна комбинација на бои, шари и материјали; овие рачно изработени фути ги раскажуваат приказните за животот на жените и креативноста, нивните села и традиции.

За жените од Илавара нивниот пат на миграција до Австралија ги трансформирал нивните фути од составен дел од секојдневната облека во траен спомен за поранешниот начин на живот.

Им благодариме на жените и нивните семејства кои ги споделија нивните фути и приказни за да се овозможи оваа изложба.
