carpenter's tools

Carpenter's tools brought from Holland by Bill Kloosterman in 1951. Until 1949 the Dutch Government would not allow tradesmen to migrate, but finally relaxed the rules on condition the would-be migrants paid their own way.

Tools of trade are some of the most valued items brought to Australia by migrants. They symbolise the wealth of skills and hard work that migrants contributed to Australia.
