Apron woven 1947-49, Zbazdi, Struga

Spase Markoski's wife, Mitra, wove this apron during her two year engagement in preparation for married life. The striking mismatched stripe design is typical of the village of Zbazdi in the mountains above Struga. The ties are tablet woven in traditional patterns and colours.

Height: 66.5 cm, width: 71.5 cm, loom width: 33.5 cm; Cotton warp, woollen weft.
